Industry Experience
David has enjoyed coaching, delivering and designing leadership programs for Fortune 100 companies in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, El Salvador, England, France, Ireland, and throughout the United States to more than 5,000 executive participants. Over the last 15 years, David has designed and delivered work in the areas of leadership and executive team development, talent management, influence strategies, blended learning, competency mapping, career development, and comprehensive 360 assessment feedback. His background and expertise is in the communication and technology industries with positions at CBS and ESPN. Some of his clients include the Bank of America, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Google, Nokia, PepsiCo, Starbucks, World Health Organization, Whirlpool, and Xerox.
Current RoleDavid is the principal consultant and owner of the Leadership Insight Group (www.LIG360.com), a for-profit consulting organization to individuals, teams and organizations. In 2007, he transitioned from his 12 year full time faculty position with the Center for Creative Leadership. At CCL, his responsibilities included managing client relationships for customized leadership programs and interventions, managing the Emerging Leaders online research project (www.ccl.org/el), managing global blended learning initiatives, executive coaching, and facilitating the Center’s individual leader development programs. He remains an active adjunct faculty member with CCL working across their global enterprise.
Educational BackgroundDavid holds a master’s of science degree in communication studies with a focus on organizational leadership behavior from Illinois State University, and a bachelor’s degree in speech communication with an emphasis in television broadcasting and social psychology. Currently, he is completing a PhD in intercultural communication. David is certified in over 100 self-report and 360 assessment instruments, simulations, and experiential activities.
Publications and Professional AffiliationsDavid has co-written books on influence tactics, communicating vision, and leadership networking, and articles, interviews with Chief Learning Officer, South China Morning Post, Leadership Wired and Human Resources Magazine. He has been a member of the National Communication Association and wrote a chapter on communication and influencing for the American Society of Training and Development Leadership Handbook with authors Ken Blanchard, Jim Collins, John Kotter, Marshall Goldsmith, and Patrick Lencioni. His research on Transformational Leadership at Caterpillar, Inc. contributed to Ken Blanchard, Paul Hersey and Dewey Johnson’s seventh edition of Management of Organizational Behavior.
